All parents are doing their best with the knowledge and resources they have. I fully believe that. It’s also true that understanding our nervous system and the roots of our children’s behaviour can make a huge difference to family life.
I have been an occupational therapist for more than 25 years. I trained in the UK where I started my career, and have also worked in Ireland, Canada and Kuwait. I have worked with all ages - from 2 days old to 112 years old! It has been a privilege to support a range of people in living their life in a way that’s meaningful to them. After working with so many children individually over the years, I began to realise that it was often the parents that needed more support in understanding how to help their child thrive and how to recognise their own needs amongst the chaos of raising children. I took a deep dive into Parent Coaching with the Future You Institute in Canada to build upon my experience so I could focus on helping parents just like you.
Living internationally and making big moves with a young family has been an enriching experience, and at times incredibly stressful. The logistics and paperwork, leaving behind family and friends, helping the children settle in to new schools and trying find a community can be draining and isolating. There are highs and lows, and sometimes it takes longer than we would like to feel ‘settled’. My mission is to create a community where parents (like you!) feel supported, validated AND can optimize your self awareness to parent with confidence and compassion, wherever your adventures take you.
As a mum of two, I know how complex and special parenting can be.
